Learn More

We recommend taking Iron away from our Prenatal Multi, as Iron can interact with other nutrients and this can impact absorption. We also recommend taking only as much as you need (some mamas do not need to supplement), as too much supplemental Iron can generate oxidative stress and impact the gut microbiome. Talk to your health practitioner about testing your Iron status before, during, and after pregnancy, and supplement if you are falling short. We've included a handy dosage chart below to help you know what's needed.

How to Use

Take one capsule up to four times daily, as advised by your health practitioner. We suggest taking away from meals and your Prenatal Multi. Our Iron is absorbed most easily on an empty stomach*. Store fully sealed at room temperature.

    Love

I have been anemic in both my pregnancies and have tried multiple different iron supplements. Needed prenatal iron has been the most effective while being gentle on my stomach. I highly recommend!

    Amazing Products!

I now have several Needed subscriptions and I have been so happy with all of them. I did a lot of research before picking a brand of supplements, and these ones check all the boxes. Couldn't be happier with this company and their products!

    No Constipation Iron

During pregnancy I needed to increase my iron intake, which has continued into postpartum and nursing. This is the only iron supplement that my digestive system can tolerate. The price is pretty economical as well, which is a bonus.

    Alpha Thalassemia - Abnormally Anemia

I was diagnosed with anemia due to my inherited thalassemia from my mom side.

During my pregnancy I suffered a lot from the anemia symptoms and due to that I ended up having to get blood transfusion and other IV supplemental fluids.

At that time is when I decided to give Needed Pregnancy Iron a shot. I did consult with my provider before taking it and they said that this Iron had the right variant and they advised due to the low leaves of my blood cells, I should take two capsules per day accompanied with Needed Vitamin D3+K2.

I did notice the difference once I started taking more consistently. It took some time for me, but the results are really great. Now, I have added this item to my monthly subscription with the other supplements I am also taking from Needed.

Of course always consult with your PCP regarding adding any type of supplements to your diet during pregnancy.

Needed Iron did help me tremendously and I highly recommend it.

Thoughtful inquiry is needed.

What makes Needed’s Prenatal Iron different than others?
We offer an Iron bound to Glycine as Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate (Ferrochel™) in 13.5mg capsules that allow you to more easily dose up or down as you need. Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate is a mineral chelate in which Iron is bound to two Glycine amino acid molecules. It is easily absorbed by the body and, unlike most other Iron forms, it minimizes constipation and gastric upset.
Why do you offer Iron separately from your Prenatal Multi?
We recommend taking Iron away from our Prenatal Multi for optimal absorption. We also recommend taking only as much as you need (some mothers do not need to supplement), as too much supplemental Iron can generate oxidative stress and alter the gut microbiome. Talk to your health practitioner about testing your Iron status before, during, and after pregnancy, and supplement if you are falling short. Our Iron is bound to Glycine for better absorption and digestive comfort.*
How do I know how much Iron I need?
Start by scrolling up and reviewing our dosage chart. This chart was created in partnership with a group of women’s health practitioners that regularly test women's Iron levels before, during, and after pregnancy. Your medical provider can also test your ferritin levels to help you determine the dosage you need.
Is your Iron vegan, allergen free, and Non-GMO?
Our Iron is vegan and non-GMO. Made without 9 major allergens, gluten, and unwanted fillers.
Can I customize my subscription based on my monthly Iron needs?
Our subscriptions are flexible, you can easily adjust it to receive your Iron at a different cadence than our standard monthly delivery. Email us at hello@thisisneeded.com if you need help.
